Izzy's Steaks & Chops

Consulting Partner

Scope: Concept development, creative direction, marketing strategy & implementation, PR, communications, oversight of construction & interior design, pre-opening strategy, menu development, community & impact strategy.

First opened in 1987 in San Francisco, Izzy’s Steaks & Chops from famed restaurateur Sam DuVall is a quintessential legacy steakhouse. The restaurant concept is inspired by the infamous bootlegger and Portuguese immigrant, Izzy Gomez, who first opened his eponymously named saloon in San Francisco’s Barbary Coast during prohibition. Having served the Marina district for almost forty years from its flagship location, and a second restaurant in the South Bay, Izzy’s is entering its new chapter of existence while honoring its storied history.

The flagship location reopened in February 2025 to a true success, bringing together longtime regulars and new guests alike. Izzy’s has found the delicate balance between preserving its legacy and introducing a refreshed design and culinary program that speaks to today’s dining culture. The success of this relaunch can be attributed to a dedication to core values, the elevation of leadership talent, a strong brand narrative woven consistently throughout the operation, and simple yet effective marketing tactics that keep guests engaged. Supporting this is an innovative approach to digital marketing, centered on building deep customer profiles and leveraging automated campaigns designed to drive loyalty and repeat visits.
